Bhuvneshwar Kumar: RCB director Mo Bobat said, “Siraj was the player we had the longest deliberation on.”
Bhuvneshwar Kumar: Mohammed Siraj played with Royal Challengers Bangalore for seven years and took 99 wickets in 102 matches. However, the 31-year-old Siraj was not retained ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction. Gujarat Titans bought the right-arm pacer for Rs 12.25 crore in the auction.

RCB fans were not happy with the team management not retaining Siraj, as they felt the Hyderabad pacer has given his best performance every season. Siraj took 16 wickets in 15 matches in IPL 2025, including four wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
However, now RCB’s Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat has revealed the thinking behind letting go of this experienced fast bowler.

In an interview to Cricbuzz, Bobat said, “Siraj is probably the player we discussed the most.”
Bobat revealed, “It is not so easy to get Indian international bowlers into the team. We spent a lot of time on whether we would like to retain them, release them, whether we would consider taking them back in the auction, we discussed every possible situation with them.”
Bobat told that RCB were more keen to include Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the team, who could help them by performing well with the new ball as well as in the last overs of the innings.
Bobat reasoned, “We were keen to play Bhuvi and we felt that playing Siraj for a longer period would make it difficult to remove Bhuvi, so we thought about this as well.” What did Bobat say about Cameron Green
Bobat also revealed that Australian all-rounder Cameron Green’s long injury was the only reason for not retaining him in the team.
Bobat said, “If he was fit, we would definitely have retained Cameron Green in the team.”
