Asia Cup 2025: Let’s know about these players
For the Asia Cup 2025, the BCCI selection committee headed by chief selector Ajit Agarkar has announced a 15-member strong squad led by captain Suryakumar Yadav. Some players made a comeback in the team, while some players did not get a place.

Asia Cup 2025: However, there are some star players who strategically could not make it to the team due to necessary reasons. The Asia Cup will start from September 9 in the UAE. Well, let’s know about those three unlucky players:
1 Asia Cup 2025: Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who batted at a strike rate of 164.31 in 23 T20 Internationals, had several reports of membership in the team according to media reports, and many former cricketers and the cricket world felt that Jaiswal could make a place as one of the main batsmen or at least as a backup batsman. However, he was named as one of the five standby players. The left-handed batsman’s omission from the squad can be considered unfortunate.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is very unfortunate, with 15 T20I left after Asia Cup, I really hope he returns into the setup, he is that good a player, shouldn't miss the Mega Event. 🤞 pic.twitter.com/4Q9pi7M5OL
2 Shreyas Iyer
Unlike Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer did not even find a place in the list of standby players. He scored 604 runs in 17 matches at a strike rate of 175.07. He also played a key role in India’s Champions Trophy win earlier this year. If chief selector Ajit Agarkar is to be believed, Iyer will have to ‘wait for his chance’ for the time being, which seems a bit unfortunate.
3 Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj last played a T20 International in July 2024 in a bilateral series against Sri Lanka. Shortly after this, he became a part of the T20 World Cup-winning team. He also played his most recent ODI match on the same tour.
Siraj performed brilliantly in the recently concluded five-match series against England. However, he was not included in the team which includes fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna (standby player). Siraj’s not being selected for Asia was a shock to the fans.
