According to Ashwin, there is a possibility of heavy bidding on foreign players in this auction, while famous Indian players will find it difficult to get big money. On his YouTube channel, Ashwin said, “This auction will be one where it will be difficult to get Indian players. Perhaps only new faces will come and the most expensive players will be foreigners.”
He further said, “It is risky for a team to release a big name Indian player. Many Australian players will also be seen in the auction.”
Ashwin put two Australian players Mitchell Owen and Cameron Green in the list of most expensive players to be sold. He said, “Mitchell Owen played three matches for Punjab Kings as a replacement, while Cameron Green will enter this auction. Both are foreign all-rounders, so their price will be high. The mini auction will be a game of 25-30 crores for each team.”
Green did not participate in the IPL 2025 mega auction as he suffered a back injury in the 2024 England series. Mitchell Owen went unsold in the 2025 mega auction, but was later taken by Punjab Kings as a replacement. He got a chance in one match, in which he was out for zero off two balls. Ashwin also said that Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Mayank Yadav could be one of the most talked about Indian players in this auction.
