Jasprit Bumrah should not have participated fully in IPL: Dilip Vengsarkar
Former India captain and selector Dilip Vengsarkar believes that Jasprit Bumrah should either not have participated fully in IPL 2025 or should have played very few matches, so that he would be fit to fully participate in England’s Anderson Tendulkar Trophy. In England, he played only 3 out of 5 Test matches, as the management took this decision while handling his workload.

Vengsarkar said that if he was in the panel of selectors of India, he would have met Mumbai Indians owner Mukesh Ambani and talked about how important it is for Jasprit Bumrah to play the entire Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, due to which he will have to miss IPL matches. He believes that if the talks were held in the right way, both of them would have agreed to this.

It is worth noting that Bumrah played 5 Test matches in the Border Gavaskar Trophy held in Australia, where he suffered a stress fracture in his back due to excessive pressure. Due to this, he could not participate in the Champions Trophy and apart from this, he also missed some matches in the beginning of the IPL and later he joined Mumbai Indians in the middle of the tournament and started playing.
Vengsarkar said that if he was a part of the selection committee, he would have advised Bumrah not to play IPL. He called the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy a very important series and said that it was very important for Bumrah to remain fresh for this series.
Vengsarkar said that he should not be blamed for missing the match, because he has recently undergone surgery, due to which it is very important to take care of him. He also said that questions cannot be raised about Bumrah because whenever he has played for the country, he has given his full contribution with his hard work.
