“Kuldeep Yadav has to play the home Tests because South Africa and West Indies will find it very difficult to pick him,” R Ashwin said.
The five-match Test series between India and England was thoroughly enjoyed by cricket enthusiasts around the world as two top teams fought tooth and nail to get their hands on the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. However, in the end, the series ended in a 2–2 draw, and the trophy didn’t get its inaugural winner.

Nevertheless, there were plenty of moments that will go down in the annals of cricketing history. Ravichandran Ashwin picked three such moments in a recent video shared by him on social media. He mentioned how Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar refused to shake hands with Ben Stokes in the fourth Test at Old Trafford. The England captain was happy to settle for a draw, but Jadeja and Sundar wanted to get to their centuries, leading to some tension among the players.
Ashwin also mentioned the heartwarming moment at the end of the third Test at Lord’s when Joe Root and Crawley tried to console a rejected Mohammed Siraj after he was out in one of the most unfortunate ways possible. The Tamil Nadu spinner finished with Siraj’s signature celebration in Cristiano Ronaldo style after dismissing Gus Atkinson on the final day of the fifth Test at The Oval.

“1.When Ben Stokes and Crawley walked up to shake hands at Old Trafford and India refused. 2.When Mohammed Siraj was crouched and Root and Crawley came up to him after the loss at Lord’s. 3.When Siraj did his signature celebration after removing Gus Atkinson at The Oval,” Ashwin said in a video uploaded on his official YouTube channel.
Kuldeep Yadav has to play the home Tests versus South Africa and West Indies: Ashwin
Kuldeep Yadav was a part of the Indian squad but didn’t get a single game. However, Ashwin believes that the Uttar Pradesh spinner should play the home Tests against South Africa and the West Indies later this year as the opposition batters will struggle to pick him.
“The way we have played in the current regime, I don’t think they will go in search of an extra bowler. I think they will omit a seamer and bring Kuldeep Yadav in his place in Indian conditions. That’s what will and should happen. There is a possibility that Axar will also play with them. The point to note is that we have packed our team with spinners at home before. Kuldeep Yadav has to play the home Tests because South Africa and West Indies will find it very difficult to. pick him. We can consider that he would play, but I am not sure who they would drop from the XI?”
