Australia won the toss and invited West Indies to bat first. The host team did not have a very good start and lost their first wicket for a total of only 32 runs. Opener Brandon King became the victim of Cooper Conley after scoring 18 runs. Captain Shai Hope and Roston Chase shared a 91-run partnership for the second wicket.
Meanwhile, both the players completed their respective half-centuries. Hope scored 55 and Chase scored 60 runs in 32 balls. Shimron Hetmyer also opened his hands and played a good innings of 38 runs in just 19 balls. As a result, West Indies put 186 runs on the board after losing 8 wickets. Australian bowler Ben Dwarshiv took four wickets for 36 runs, which included the wicket of Roston Chase.

The Australian team, which came out to chase the target of 190 runs, had a very bad start. Jason Holder gave the first blow to the Kangaroos at a total score of 12 runs. He dismissed Jake Fraser McGurk for 2 runs. The host team bowled brilliantly and sent four Australian batsmen to the pavilion for 78 runs.
There was an 80-run partnership between Cameron Green and debutant Mitchell Owen for the fifth wicket. Both these players hit fifties. Green was dismissed by Moti and Owen by Joseph. Mitchell Owen has been selected as the Player of the Match for his brilliant half-century and one wicket. Jason Holder, Alzari Joseph and Gudakesh Moti took two wickets each. Akeel Hussain got one wicket.
