India beat England in first ODI: The Indian women’s cricket team has won the first match of the ongoing three-match ODI series in England. In this match played at The Ageas Bowl Stadium in Southampton, they defeated England by four wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the series. Left-handed batsman Deepti Sharma played an unbeaten innings of 62 runs. She was selected as the Player of the Match.

ODI : The Indian team, which came out to chase the target of 259 runs, had a good start. Indian openers Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana shared a 48-run partnership for the first wicket. Rawal scored 36 and Mandhana scored 28 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues, who played an innings of 48 runs, missed her half-century. Deepti Sharma scored the highest score from India. In her innings of 62 runs, Deepti hit three fours and a six. As a result, India defeated the hosts by four wickets. Deepti was adjudged Player of the Match for her brilliant performance in the match.

ODI : After winning the toss and batting first, England had a very bad start. Both the host team’s openers Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones returned to the pavilion at a score of 20 runs. Both of their wickets were taken by fast bowler Kranti Gaud. However, later England’s innings recovered. Emma Lamb and Natalie Siver-Brunt added 71 runs for the third wicket. But England once again seemed to fall in front of Sneh Rana’s deadly bowling.
Rana took two wickets but with the help of Sophia Dunkley‘s unbeaten 83 off 92 balls, England scored a respectable score of 258 for six in the first women’s ODI against India. Alice Davidson Richards along with Dunkley shared a 106-run partnership for the fifth wicket and scored a half-century of 53 runs in 73 balls. With this win, the Indian team has taken a 1-0 lead in the series. Earlier, the Indian women’s team had won the five-match T20 series 3-2.
