Joe Root About Ben Stokes Workload: England’s Test captain Ben Stokes always looks to put in his best efforts and tries to make things work in his team’s favor till the last breath. He did something similar at Lord’s and England got the benefit of this in the form of a 22-run victory. Stokes put in a lot of effort in bowling and also bowled a long spell. This must have increased his workload but the English captain tried to give his best for his team regardless. Now fellow player Joe Root has made a big disclosure about Stokes. Root said that when he was captain, Stokes did not listen to him regarding the workload in terms of bowling.

After India beat England by 336 runs at Edgbaston to level the series 1-1, Stokes was under a lot of pressure at Lord’s. The 34-year-old played crucial knocks in both innings on a difficult Lord’s pitch, but his most important contribution was with the ball. Despite struggling with injuries recently, Stokes bowled a total of 44 overs in both innings and took five important wickets. His performance played a key role in England’s victory.

Speaking ahead of the fourth Test, Joe Root admitted that he was worried about whether the all-rounder would be able to maintain his fitness till the end of the match. He was quoted by BBC Sport as saying:
“He doesn’t always listen to me. He didn’t listen to me even when I was captain. But, no, he knows what he’s doing and he has a good grip on his physical condition. It was an incredible effort. He’s just desperate to be a player and do things. Incredible effort to be able to do that.
I was just scared that he wouldn’t be able to stay in the match after some serious injuries, but now he has full confidence in his body.” Let us tell you that Ben Stokes performed brilliantly in fielding along with batting and bowling and in the first innings, he was the one who broke the dangerous partnership between KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. Stokes showed amazing agility and ran out Pant.
