South Africa won an ICC title after 27 years
South Africa has finally captured the ICC title after 27 years. On 14 June 2025, Temba Bavuma’s team registered this historic victory by defeating Australia by 5 wickets in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 at Lord’s. This is South Africa’s second ICC trophy after winning the ICC Knockout Trophy (now Champions Trophy) in 1998.

South African team will be rich
According to the ICC, the title-winning team South Africa will get around Rs 30 crore (36 lakh US dollars). On the other hand, runner-up Australia will get around Rs 18 crore (21.6 lakh US dollars). Along with this, Team India, which is at number three, will get Rs 12.31 crore. This time ICC has fixed the total prize money for the final match at around Rs 48 crore (57.6 lakh US dollars), which is more than double compared to the last cycle.
Apart from this, New Zealand, which is at number 4, will get around Rs 10 crore, England, which is at number 5, will get Rs 8.2 crore. On the other hand, Sri Lanka at number 6 will get Rs 7.18 crore, Bangladesh at number 7 will get Rs 6.15 crore, West Indies at number 8 will get Rs 5.13 crore and Pakistan at number 9 will get around Rs 4 crore.
Match status
Talking about the match, South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first. Australia scored 212 runs with the help of brilliant innings of Webster (72) and Steve Smith (66). In response, South Africa performed poorly in their first innings and were all out for just 138 runs. In this way, Australia got a lead of 74 runs.
In the second innings, Mitchell Starc scored 58 runs for Australia, but the South African bowlers bundled out the Kangaroo team for just 202 runs. Now Africa had a target of 282 runs. Chasing the target, Aiden Markram batted brilliantly for the Proteas and scored his 8th century, scoring a brilliant innings of 136 runs in 207 balls with the help of 14 fours.
Apart from this, captain Temba Bavuma scored 66 runs. Both the batsmen shared a 147-run partnership for the third wicket and took the match away from Australia.
