But in the meantime, 11 people lost their lives in the stampede outside the stadium, while more than 50 people were injured. My condolences are with the families of those who lost their lives in this incident. Considering the sports culture of this city, the incident is even more painful.
Dravid further said – This city is a sports-loving city. I am from this city and people like not only cricket but every sport very much, and follow their teams, whether it is a football team or a kabaddi team. There are a large number of RCB fans in the city and this incident is very sad and unfortunate.
On the other hand, taking moral responsibility after this incident, two officials of the Karnataka State Cricket Association, Secretary A Shankar and Treasurer ES Jayaram, have resigned. So far, the Karnataka government has suspended four police officers over this incident. While some media reports have also claimed that the government is also considering shifting the Chinnaswamy Stadium out of the city.
