Gautam Gambhir Statement on Shreyas Iyer: Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir gave a shocking answer to a reporter on Shreyas Iyer not being selected in the squad for the England tour next month. In fact, when the reporter asked why Iyer was not selected in the Test team, the former Indian opener bluntly replied that he is not a selector.

Gautam Gambhir: The 30-year-old Iyer has become a regular member of the ODI team, but has not played Test cricket since February 2024. The right-handed batsman struggled in the first two Tests of the five-match series against England last year, due to which the selectors dropped him for the remaining matches. However, he performed well during the Ranji Trophy and scored 480 runs in six matches at an average of 68.57. Iyer’s recent form is also very tremendous and It was expected that he would return to the Test team again, but it did not happen.
