BCCI: In IPL 2025, all the teams were allowed to sign players only till the 12th match, but due to the suspension of the league in the middle, the BCCI has changed the rule. Now the teams have got permission to temporarily sign players for the remaining matches.
However, these players will only get a chance to join the team in the remaining matches of this season and they will not be allowed to be retained for the next season. That is, if a player is signed by a team now, he will be released before the next season. At the same time, players signed as replacements by teams before the suspension of the current season will be allowed to be retained for the next season.

IPL informed all the teams about the change in the replacement rule and said that due to the unavailability of some foreign players due to national commitments, personal reasons or any injury or illness, temporary replacement players will be allowed till the end of this tournament. This decision is based on the condition that temporary replacement players taken from this point will not be eligible to be retained for the next year. Temporary replacement players will have to register to participate in the auction for the next season.
