Along with Rohit, Virat Kohli is also at a crossroads in his career. Both the stalwarts, who have been at the centre of India’s white-ball format dominance for over a decade, are now between 35 and 40 years of age. Kohli, 36, and Rohit, 38, have already retired from T20s and Tests, raising doubts over whether they will be part of India’s 2027 ODI World Cup plans.
What does the head coach have to say?
Gambhir said, “There is still a T20 World Cup left before the 2027 ODI World Cup, and that is also a big tournament, which is going to be held in India in February-March. So, the entire focus at the moment—after England—will be on the T20 World Cup. And November-December 2027 is still two and a half years away.” He further said, “If you keep performing well, age is just a number.”
